Our History
The Story Of Glanville
Joseph Glanville Chudleigh was born in Liskeard, Cornwall, England in 1868 and was always better known by his middle name, a name that lives on in Glanville Ag today. He arrived in Sydney on the SS Austral on the 8th of December 1890, following in the footsteps of his brother who had already made the journey. This was followed by some years working across many different roles, from the mines to the shearing sheds, before moving to Frogmore in late 1894 and taking over Glenbrook on the 1st of February 1895.
Starting with 600 wethers, he built from the ground up, expanding the property over time. It's been said that Glanville believed we have a responsibility to leave the land better than when it is entrusted to us. More than 130 years on, that thinking continues to shape the way the business is run today, ensuring it endures for future generations.
